Will Cheney take the hint?

Drudge points to a Reuters item on Vice President Cheney's address to the US Labor Department's national summit on retirement, which features this photo:

You have to hand it to Reuters - such subtlety!

But the question is out there: is it time for Cheney to bow out? Has he become a liability to the White House? With his recent approval numbers down to 18%, speculation is making the rounds that he will step aside following the 2006 midterm elections.

And who might be waiting in the wings as the president's likely choice to succeed Cheney in the VP slot?
